In 2019, with a little luck and some hard work I found myself with the opportunity to envision and design a new program for Saint Saviour High School. I am always looking for ways to engage my students and I was inspired by a school trip I planned to The Institute of Culinary Education’s hydroponic farm. From there I learned about and soon partnered with NY Sun Works who helped install a hydroponic greenhouse in an unused classroom. I then worked throughout the year with the Science department to implement a more progressive curriculum based upon the science of sustainability.
It was truly an experimental year for me with regard to computer technology. I introduced the Adobe Cloud Platform into my Senior year curriculum and it was a resounding success. My students were able to experiment with Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, Premier Pro and Lightroom and explore their own creativity in the process.
My third foray into exploration was with Augmented Reality. I had been exploring ways to implement new technologies into our classrooms and with my faculty. I ran a PD for to demonstrate the possibilities it could have in their classrooms.
In addition to all this my business continues to flourish. Some highlights:
Overseeing major reconstruction and data rewiring of Saint Saviour Catholic Academy. We had to rerun security and network cables and install new networking infrastructure.
I addition, in my personal life I took a Professional Development course on the Science of Sustainability every Saturday for 6 weeks, recorded a 3 song EP with my band The Threads, took a vegan cooking class at the Institute of Culinary Education and i’m looking forward to everyday that I’m blessed to have on earth.
to be continued…
